Those are good suggestions.  

I signed up with BellSouth for DSL so I can use the VPN connection at
work.  They gave me an email address which I've never used, however when
ever I check that address, it has hundreds of spam messages.  The only
legit messages are an ocassional spam from bellsouth themselves.  I know
BS has a spam filter of some kind so I'm not seeing all the spam.  I
still keep an account on earthlink for my email.  Of course, I see
thousands of spams from it each month.  8(
