[ale] going to apt-rpm

I'm looking to upgrade my box, and I'm so tired of rpm dependency heck. So I'm 
considering installing apt-rpm and giving it a go. I'm a Mandrake 7.1 box, 
still on kernel 2.2.15 (!!!), so I really need to get current.

1) Where's the current apt-rpm found?
2) Any other tools or libs needed for apt-rpm itself?
3) Any gotchas, especially on a box this outdated?
