[ale] GDM and locale



does locate i18n return any goodness?

i had this same type problem myself, but in red hat.  Everything was fine except my gnome-terms, they couldn't emulate utf-8, but changing the i18n file fixed it up proper.

if that's not the case, i don't know what to tell you.

I don't have an /etc/sysconfig directory.  I think that's specific to
RedHat and its variants.
