Not necessarily.  They just made them harder to find.

You can edit most desktop settings not readily available through Red Hat's
config tools using /usr/bin/gconf-editor.

Sad thing is, gnome went to this eerily Windows Registry-feeling config
setup ;-).

Still working on the window overlap.
