[ale] why isn't this working? (tr question)

I actually replied to my own post (since it seemed that there was an Ale mail bottleneck a little while ago).  Here's what i did:

find . -name "*.jar" -print | tr -s '\n' ':'


works great after i add in the -s tag.

This is on Solaris 8 and using the bash shell.
