[ale] res in console

hey if i didnt want to install xfree but wanted a high res screen how
would i do that? i only want the high resolution for displaying more text.
im not even sure how to begin looking :-p i did a short search on google
but all i found was bsd drivers mostly and requests of the same nature :-p
perhaps i did a bad search?
