[ale] HP and Epson scanners

Be careful *which* HP scanners you try.
Some have numbers which are very similar
and yet www.mostang.com says they are
incompatible with Linux. Xsane recommends Epsons
whenever possible. Epson also provides
a link to "iscan" which is an open source
GUI scanning program specifically
designed to run Epson scanners.
Lots of options. I only use xsane. YMMV
