consider using ogg format if it is something that you will play on your computer.?? also for speech recording I use VBR (variable bit rate) and encode to 32-48k (at 44100khz).?? this is what i use for my audiobooks/lectures when i travel.?? don't want to take my originals with me.?? i usually don't "normalize", but know of some that like that.
roughly an hour of speech (for me) is around 550MB.?? I encode this wave file to ogg at 32k/44100khz VBR and it is about 13MB.?? this is how i catalog it (ogg format).?? if i need to burn it to CD it is a simple decode to wave.
just my thoughts,
Preston
