[ale] browser plugins

1. I am having trouble getting the Java plugin to work in Suse 8.2/Mozilla.
Downloading seems successful, and google research turns up nothing.
I went to opt/mozilla/plugins and java seems to "be there" but it won't run.
I am not sure how to "install plugins" in Mozilla - can't find it on the menu.
Anyone know how to get Java plugins to work in Mozilla 1.2.1?

2. In related news: There is a program called plugger that takes care of most 
plugins for Mozilla. It will even play mpg movies in the browser 
automatically. It comes standard with Suse 8.2, not sure if other distros 
have it, if not get it - it works great on everything and there is even a 
test area on the site to prove all of the plugins work.
