[ale] OT: iPod ideas

This is kind of on topic, but mostly off. ;)

I have been requested to buy someone an iPod as a gift this holiday
season.  Not knowing too much about portable MP3 players (i barely have
time to listen to the existing people who are singing in my head), I
thought that I would ask for some quality advice.  Basically I want to
know if there are any good iPod clones that have longer battery life and
play nicely with Linux (USB prefered).
