[ale] pppd net install?

I'm trying to install some sort of Linux on an old laptop. I want to do
a net install through a pppd connection to my desktop running iptables.
I'm having trouble finding a boot/rescue disk with pppd on it.

Has anyone seen such a beast? Is there a way I can add pppd to an
existing boot/rescue disk?
