[ale] rsyncing *large* drives

We have a need to mirror an entire 80 GB harddrive on a nightly basis. 
rsync would seem ideal for this sort of thing, but I've never used it for
syncs over a gigabyte and am concerned that the large size of the drive
might give it's comparison routines a headache, particularly if that 80GB
consists for the most part of small files.

Anyone used rsync in this type of situation?  If not, do you have any
suggestions?
