[ale] pulldown menus

I have a question? I am doing a pulldown menu and want to make the
content linkable. I did the following:
   <option value="http://www.content.com";>atlanta</option> 
If I click on atlanta, it doesn't do anything. Also is there a way to
change the background color of the pulldown menu.
