[ale] 3 buttons from 2

I have a 2 button touchpad (synaptics) on a Debian X install.  Despite 
what looks like a good X configuration, I can't however, seem to paste 
by clicking with both buttons.

In the section "Pointer", I have Emulate3Buttons

Ideas?
