[ale] developing gnome 2 panel applets

I'd like to port a few panel applets over to gnome 2.  While I played
around with panel applet writing in the old gnome, quite a bit has
changed.

Can't find any specific links to docs documenting how to develop applets
for Gnome 2 or the differences between applets for 1.x and for 2.

Anyone out there have some links I've missed?
