[ale] too slow my mozilla !!!!!!!

hi,

       i am using mozilla for my mail client. I have a huge dump of my 
old mails there.
       May be it can be a problem.
       whenever i start mozilla, it takes unusually more time to show 
the first mail i click on.
       or it takes more time to type the receipient address on a first 
mail that i send.

       do anybody had such experience.......
       It is bothering me much....
       what least can we do??????
