[ale] gtk keymapping

Hello:

Does anyone here do any programming in gtk & related toys?
I'm asking for a friend, so I might not quite "get it right..."

How (or what function) do we specify and/or re-map keybindings?
For example, xchat enables tab-completion in its message-window.
How do we set-up something like that?
Generally, (for example) TAB changes "widget focus" (?)

As another example, how can we bind the TAB key to
something like "activate menu item?"
