a google search I found a site that gives you everything you didn't want to know
about the legalities of recording conversations.

In regards to recording telephone conversations, be aware of
federal and state wiretap statutes.?? There are _very_ specific rules you
must follow when recording telephone conversations.?? Failure to follow
those rules, and you could have a lot more trouble than He-said, She-said
arguments with the IRS.
