[ale] DNS Question

Ok, I have my public DNS setup for my domain.   I want to start using
it for my outside DNS server, however, when I told my registrar the
new DNS server.  It took me it was an unregistered DNS server ?   Do
I have to register the DNS server somewhere else as well ?   Thanks
