[ale] apache and trailing slashes

I'm running apache 1.3.24 on gentoo.

What do I need to add to the conf file to have mod_rewrite add trailing
slashes to all directories specified without a trailing slash?

In other words, to convert:

http://myhost/subfolder

to:

http://myhost/subfolder/
