Uh, ignorance is the lack of knowledge, therefore you can overcome it by 
learning.  Stupidity is not willful it is the capacity to learn, 
therefore if you're stupid, it's not your fault and you can not overcome it.

Willful ignorance on the otherhand is unforgiveable.

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
