[ale] OT: EIDE drive to IDE connector?

Sorry for this being so way off-topic and a potentially stupid question,
but ...

I have an older notebook whose hard drive appears to be an IDE interface.
I'd like to replace the drive with a larger EIDE drive. Will either the
IDE interface or the EIDE drive get fubar'd if I do this?
