[ale] why can't I subscribe to ALE from home

Since my job has disappeared, I've been trying to receive the ALE
mailing list from home.  I've sent mail multiple times to
ale-subscribe at ale.org but I've never gotten a response.

After a going through a few days of forced withdrawal from ALE, I've
resubscribed from my work address and it works fine.  I got the
subscription notice almost immediately.

Anyone know why I can't subscribe to ale from mdhirsch at mail.com?
