Yep. There's always going to be some competition..
When the OS cost  made up 5% to 10% of what you paid for a new 
computer, no one minded very much. 

Currently, I believe their cut is approaching 25% for the low-end 
computers.

Once they get this new plan into operation, maybe 50% of the price 
will be for the OS and hardware licenses. With people expecting 
sub-$500 computers now, that means retailers will have to choose 
between selling Microsoft or making a realistic profit.

Methinks profit will win.
