[ale] PCTel Linmodem

I've just installed the cheap a** modem purchased from CompUsa and found
the PCTel driver.?? I have it loaded but I keep getting NO DIALTONE.?? The
modem also seems to keep the line off hook.?? Could the following
be the problems:


1.?? PC is only Pentium 75
2.?? Maybe I'm using the wrong chipset in the driver


I could not find realistic figures on the impact of using such a driver
only on a P75.
