I'm getting some strangeness from my CDwriter and I'm looking for
suggestions. I'm beginning to think that the answer is "get a new
writer", but I'm hoping for other ideas.
I was recently given a CDW/DVD-ROM drive. I recompiled scsi into my
2.2.19 kernel, downloaded the latest xcdraost and cdrtools and
installed them. I then copied/burnt some data CDs and all was well.
That was about a month ago.
In the last copule weeks I've had a need to burn CDs, but when I do
nothing seems to happen. I can actually "burn" them more than once,
but the disks are not readable in any drive. These are not cdrw
disks, but cdrs. Strangely enough, the first time I burn a disk you
can barely see any change in the medium. The second time, you can
definitly see where the disk has been written.
It's like my laser is underpowered.(?) Can this happen? Any bright
ideas of something to check for?
Thanks,
-Michael
