[ale] Sendmail/Postfix/Qmail question

My boss is interested in doing some mass emailings to our clients.

My question is, are there any limitations to how many addresses can go into
the BCC field in the header?  If I stuck 500 of them in a message, will it
bomb on me? 5000?

Being that I'm not a programmer, does anyone know of any solutions that will
help me do this (commercial or free)?
