[ale] using dig

I need to setup a DNS server that serves the names for my network as well as
caches requests from those machines.  I will setup named to look at a file
to get the upper level DNS server to get dns information.  I had used dig
two years ago that creaetd the file for named to read from.  Can someone
tell me how to do this again?
