[ale] sendmail question

I have an automated process that sends out an email from behind our firewall
with a Return-Path that won't resolve.  So the message gets rejected in some
cases.  How do I modify the Return-Path?  I've made several changes to the
sendmail.cf file and restarted sendmail several times but can't seem to make
the header reflect my change.
