[ale] Constraints of supporting multiple kernels ?

Good Morn,

How should 4 different bootable kernels be implemented on Debian so as
to not interfere with each other ?

I'm not just referring to lilo, but 2.2 & 2.4 releases as well as
different X windows implementataions, etc.....

A good URL would be appreciated as well.
