[ale] routing questions

Does this make sense?

I do a traceroute from machine a.b.c.d to e.f.g.h.  In the output of the
traceroute I see machine i.j.k.l

I can ping i.j.k.l from m.n.o.p.

Can I assume that I should be able to set my default gw to i.j.k.l in
order to get from m.n.o.p to a.b.c.d.


Sorry, it really did seem a lot simpler then that.
