[ale] Kernel v2.4.x and Firewalls

I'm not using the 2.4 firerall features, but I'm aware. The 2.4 now has yet
another firewall scheme (netfilter) with a different way of specifying
rulesets. However, there is a compile-time option for ipchains compatibility.
