[ale] Linux setup for Bellsouth ADSL

I use Bellsouth ADSL, and am pleased with their
performance. ( >1.1MB, usually) I am not pleased
with Windows 2000, as it locks up fairly often.
Can I use Linux to connect to the network. My
ADSL is provided by regular phone line to an
Alcatel USB ADSL converter which plugs into my USB
port.
I know the 2.4 kernel supports USB, but I am not sure if
I need to run PPPoE, or what. Has anyone done this
with Bellsouth ADSL?
Thanks in advance,
Richard
