[ale] dpms

I've turned on dpms so my monitor will do the standby/suspend/off
stuff.  Wierd thing is, dpms get's turned off somehow.  Mandrake 8.0
with Gnome.  I've got power managment selected in the screensaver
configuration.  I can't for the life of me figure out why it keeps
getting turned off.

Any suggestions where I might look?
