What a cool little command!  Thanks.  I think what I will do is append its
output to /etc/issue.  That way, it will get distributed to all six
vterms, and it will get renewed (in case it gets reset) simply by logging
off.

There seems to be no limit to how long Verizon can hold up delivery of
a competitor's DSL.
