Okay, we've got consensus on that.?? Good.

Yeah, one might think so!?? It doesn't, though.?? Here's all I get:
?? Vendor: QUANTUM???? Model: DLT8000???????????????????? Rev: 010F
?? Type:???? Sequential-Access?????????????????????????????????? ANSI SCSI revision: 02
I guess the kernel is taunting me by telling me it sees the drive but it
won't let me use it.
???? # mt -t /dev/st0 status
???? /dev/st0: No such device
???? # ls -l /dev/st0
???? crw-rw----?????? 1 root???????? disk???????????? 9,???? 0 Sep 18 10:31 /dev/st0
???? #
So it's there.?? It should control this device then, right??? Now, the drive
is really an HP SureStore DLT-80.?? From what I can tell from the info I can
find online, though, the Quantum DLT8000 has the same specs as this HP
drive, so presumably there's no problem there -- right?
Here's the entire dmesg output in case someone sees something I don't.??
(Yes, it starts in mid-sentence.?? I guess the size of /var/log/dmesg is
limited?)
of 2 processors activated (2195.46 BogoMIPS).
