I've always liked and recommended The UNIX Programming
Environment, by Kernighan & Pike. Borders, B&N and Amazon usually have
it in stock.
I just checked it, but it has no reference to the trap
exit/looping problem. I found it through the school of Hard Knocks, and
lots of reading source. It still has lots of still-useful programs, and
it teaches UNIX programming quite well, IMO. I learned yacc with this
book....
(in a cracking voice) Sonny, I've been using the Internet back
when all we had wuz 1200 baud modems and USENET!. Why, all we had back
then was wood burning computers! ;-)
