[ale] No printer daemon

It is definitely lp1. But it still says "ready for Xerox to be become
ready (offline)?"

New clue:  when linux boots among all the status info this appears:

"Starting keytable parport 0 probe--warning class printer not
understood"

Yesterday I tried entering "alias parport_lowlevel parport lc" in the
terminal but it was rejected. I did find in /etc/conf.modules. But I
don't really know what the parport does.

Now what?
If I forget later, thanks for the help.
