[ale] NIC installation question

Greetings !

Installing an SMC8216T NIC, which has been setup under win95 as IRQ=10
addr=0x300 i/o=cc000, as well as jumpered for these settings, 

I get on bootup the error msgs.........

	failed to clear shared memory at cc000
	not found at 0x300

What's going on and what needs to be done ?
