[ale] USR Sportster Init string?

Ok,
  A friend gave me an external Sportster Voice.  3Com's web page says its a:

Sportster 56K/V34/V42b Voice Fax

I can't find anything about an init string.  I tried &F1 but something must
be wrong.  I get a constant 24000 connection:

Oct  9 15:38:47 wally chat[577]: expect (ogin:)
Oct  9 15:38:47 wally chat[577]:  24000/ARQ/V34/LAPM/V42BIS^M

Anyone know a good init string?
