[ale] /etc/aliases limits

What, if any, upper limits are there on the number of aliases that can be
contained in the /etc/aliases file?  The company I work for is
considering adding a ton of aliases for all possible combinations of our
employees names.  Is there a better way?

One thing that would make this nice would be the use of
regular expressions in the aliases file.
