[ale] RH 6.1 and gui install

Does RH6.1 start the gui install from an ftp installation. If so how can I
force this so I do not have to use the curses based install?
I've noticed even when booting from cdrom sometimes a gui install will take
place and sometimes not. How does the install determine if it will do gui
based install?
