        I've got an ACER 4x4x32 IDE CDRW that works fine under linux
(once upgraded to a recent firmware version).  Get the CD burning
HOWTO and follow its instructions on how to setup the ide-tscsi
emulation modules and you should be ready to go (assuming you've got a 
supported model of CDRW drive).
