[ale] Why eth0 delayed?

in the /etc/../rc2.d (or rc3.d) dirs you will notice  S##PCMCIA and
S##NETWORK
or  K##PCMCIA and K##NETWORK.  You want the number of S##PCMCIA lower
then S##NETWORK  like  S03pcmcia and S05network or K40PCMCIA and
K42NETWORK
