[ale] Does MPP work over analog?

So, based on previous advice herein, I've been calling around trying to
find higher-speed access than my little 33.6 modem. DSL probably is still
a year away from my area (southside, Coweta County), two-way cable,
despite its possible disadvantages, is still 6mos - 1 yr away, and ISDN is
just getting pricey these days.
So about all that's left that will help uplink bandwidth is possibly
doing Multilink over analog. Now, ATLNET was doing this for a while, but
claimed it didn't work too well. They said that they would be willing to
try it with me for a while. Price would be around $190/mo with no startup
fee. I've got two modems and two analog lines ready to play with this.
The question is how well will this work... has anyone ever done/seen a
successful Multilink PPP over analog implementation?
