[ale] Problem mounting floppy drive with RedHat 5.2

Hello, everyone.  I just installed RedHat Linux 5.2 and am having some
trouble mounting the floppy drive.

When I type:
	mount /mnt/floppy

I get the following error:
	end request:  I/O error, dev 02:00, sector 0
	mount: /dev/fd0 is not a valid block device

I've looked in the user manual, but cannot find any trouble-shooting
tips for error mounting floppy drives.

Any help or insight would be appreciated.
