You may mount either way, by the device or by the inode. Inode, as Josh
suggested, may be a better habit as you can use differing mounting
points to refer to different filesystem types on the same physical
device (i.e. /mnt floppy for msdos disks and /mnt/fd0 for ext2 disks,
with both being /dev/fd0).
First check to make sure you have a valid CDRom in there. (Sorry, got to
cover all bases)
Then, make sure /dev/cdrom is still linked to a /dev/hdX (in my case
/dev/hdd yours may be different).
You didn't say if it changed kernels on you, but just in case:
Check /proc/filesystems to make sure you still have iso9660 in the
kernel.
