[ale] mounting remote directories

I have an ISP who leases me web space,
best.com
They have given me a shell account too.

I have a linux box at my home which is
connected to mediaone express.  Can 
this machine "mount" my shell directory
at best.com?  Is this something I could 
do myself, or would I be reliant on the
administrators at Best to allow me to do
this?
