[ale] Courier V.Everything Modems

    Anybody using the USR / 3COM Courier V.Everything external analog
modems?  I had my dialup connection under RedHat 5.2 working fine with a
MultiTech external modem, but now I have a one of these USR modems
plugged in, the ppp0 interface dials, connects to the isp, then hangs up
after a minute.  I never actually get a connection that I can ping or
finger from.  Is there an ' at ' initialization string needed for these
modems under Linux?  It works fine under winders, but I am trying my
darndest to finish my conversion to Linux.

    Any ideas?
