Hmmm. I think I have that same kind of modem - Hayes Akura 56k internal
4704. My modem works fine with both Red Hat 5.2 (both 2.0 and 2.2 kernels)
and Suse 5.3. My modem worked/works with both the old K56 Flex and with
the V.90 flash upgrade.
I do remember when I first installed it I disabled "plug and play". I never
tried anything with PNP enabled, but that could be your problem.

Hello, I am having a problem connecting to the internet. I am using
Caldera 1.3 with the K.D.E. desktop. I have tried configuring the modem
with kppp, i have created a symbolic link to the modem. every time I try
to dial out I get a message that says modem busy. I check the irqs and
it shows only one serial port which I take to be the mouse. Under
windows the modem works fine on com 3 irq 4. The
modem is not a Winmodem it is an Hayes Accura 56k fax/internal modem, it
has never given me one problem under windows. Any suggestions would be
greatly
appreciated.
Thank
You,
Marty
